It's happened at Bangkok, Bangna. I'm not familiar with Bangna area. Perhaps bkk residents can englighten me here. Look like a warehouse factory rather then a pub. This is all happened because of a pussy. :p

If I'm were there during that time, I'm sure will run for my life. Stray bullets flying off. The one he aimed never got shot, passerby who watched the show got shot. For nothing got free shot.

Possiblity he is on yaba. Othewise he won't run around like a mad man. 555+ :D

Dear Bros, for safety, I recommend the following:-

1) When shots are heard (but not seen), it is very dangerous to run around due to ricochet effect of rounds shot. Rounds tend to ricochet upwards due to their construct and greater density near the tip.

2) Lie flat with face facing ground and two palms covering the back of our head and elbows near both ears. When lying flat, try to figure out direction of shots and try to have our feet facing the sound of the shots (so if bloody round die die must hit me, hit my feet instead).

The above gives us best bet of survival. Trust me, was trained as such by SIB.

Also, revolvers are generally more accurate than pistols. From my observation, even hollywood actors hold the pistol with a better grip than that guy in the vid.

Watch Steven Seagal shows and you know what I mean.

But the best pistol we have is still our 2IC!

Both sources of info can't b verified and I too lazy to search Khun Google beyond page one.

"Ap naam" means "bathing" which in this case means a massage that includes a bath by the girl. "AGG" a-go-go...

Guns in Thailand no big deal thats why u must always remember keep your cool, especially we being foreigners, in Thailand never know who is carrying one. That is why there are metal detectors outside more established clubs. Don't need to be rich to own one. Lots of small time gangsters aka "gin naa kia" also carry them.

Hang around during Songkran, temple fairs or boxing matches in the provinces. Too much alcohol + old vendettas = lots of fights often with a few fatalities.

Once was eating at Hway Kwang. Had this guy opposite the road arguing. Suddenly he took out a gun and fired into the air. I was sitting about 200m away only?

As George Lam famously said in that Guiness Stout ad... "He who hesitates is lost." or as they say in Thailand "mai dtong kid mak!" :D

People with low luck or born with the 3rd eye can see such things. I stayed in Asia Hotel many times either alone or with company. Served 2 1/2 years in camps with bad reputations with no problems. So depends on the individual. Of course I'm not saying that we should tempt fate.

It's true guns are much more accessable in Thailand and we should keep our cool at all times. Simple things like gangnam style dance between 2 groups can turn into a 50shots shot out:eek:

U guys are making Thailand a battle zone like Syria :D

Thailand is a very safe haven to visit and spend money. Tourism is 1 of the main income. Dun worry too much about pistols, revolver and so on. It is very rare that u can hear gun shot or see someone pulling out 1. In Thailand, just be humble and mind your own biz.

Just to add regarding "humble", this is what I observe how SG behaves in Thailand.

1) Wear thick gold chain or bracelet.
2) Putting expensive Ipui on the table or talking on the Ipui while walking on the street.
3) Show off thick pile of THB.
4) Loud voice when talking.
5) Assume gers in pub or disco as WL.
6) Assume himself richer or more handsome than any Thai.

Just use your common sense if u have when touring foreign countries.... u will be safe and enjoy the trip.

Ah so, if not entangle with locals ..you enjoy sights (and tastes) without any worries. On general safety, you wouldn't want to be caught walking alone in middle of night in downtown Manila (as comparison).

Having taken repeated vacations in Thai soil over the years, I agree that Thailand is very safe for visitors.

Incidentally, may be worthy to stress another perspective about sanuk vacationing in LOS. I don't like sleeping alone in BKK or anywhere in Thailand. I have none of concern or fear of any outside event such as 'a knock at the door' while having a ST or LT girl in any hotel room in Thailand ---- Be it illegal or whatever does not sink in my mind at any time.

However, this is not the case in some other countries such as PRC, Vietnam. My observation is Vietnam does not 'welcome' single male sanuk tourists. There had been quite a number stories about bad treatment to single male tourists to PRC as well. I would be concerned if there was 'knock on the door' of the hotel room in the middle of the night that could lead to very nasty surprise for sanuk tourists.

I agree with Namelo.

Whichever country you go, if you behave the way Namelo observe, no place is safe for you. Keeping low profile, be soft spoken and be humble. Then you will have a safe holiday.

One valid point by many bros here, always keep cool. Always have a smile, walk away and have the mai pen rai attitude.

I think thats why Thais always smile.

555 I do agree Thailand is very safe, just a reminder for those that things can happen if one gets too yaya with a bit of cash;)

Like you said use common sense, and respect the locals goes a long way.

Re: Bangkok Field Report

When I was a solo noob back then I walked the streets in the wee hours of the morning but didn't feel unsafe. Of course keep some common sense and not wander into a dark alley which even in Sillypore I don't.

Besides gun toting "ah sia" and "gin naa kias", Bangkok is not Aleppo. Clubs have metal detectors but trigger happy the Thais are not. The incident at Hway Kwang was my only experience first hand during my posting there.

Bangkok is safer than Chang Ping I dare say. Vietnam & China are still technically communist countries so mongering is one of the "imperialist bourgeois" values that must be eradicated. Didn't the Chinese stamp your passport with "piao ji" (monger) in the past if you were caught engaging the services of a prostitute?

You do watch the news or hear from your Thai friends about the drunken brawls during festive period but that should not concern you if you just mind your own business.

Talking loudly, showing off your cash and thinking every Thai lady they meet is a prostitute is very typical Sillyporean behavior. Bring that "pai kia" attitude over and u maybe going back in a coffin.
