BKK hotel to Suva Airport for 300b is not cheap. Usually I pay around 250b (excluding highway)
And it isn't necessary to phone a cab to go airport :) I mean just tip the bellboy or walk to road and taxis are a dime a dozen. BKK taxis are way much better than KL taxis where you have much higher chance of getting overcharged (withour using meter), scammed or getting robbed. BKK taxis are saints compared those KL taxis. With KL taxis you get all kinds of rubbish, unprofessionalism, bad filthy dirty taxis and scammers here and there. While there are some bad hats BKK taxis, they are way much better than KL taxis
Worst is have to make appointment with taxi and then wait here and there but he does not turn up for some reason why you see tonnes of taxi going by but you cannot stop the taxis and you are running late for airport. If his taxi is a"sexi" that comes with hot sexy puying you can pay to papow in a backseat bed on your way to airport I will call him for sure :)

Wonder why you guys still take taxi from airport to downtown Bkk when there is the airport link to skytrain which cost max 90 THB :confused:

Bro I don't know abt others.
I took taxi to save the trouble of squeezing with people.
I always travel with big luggage, so not advisable to take their airport link.

And a little secret is while id agree that stars are genereally not as much fun. They just have to many guys wanting to FUCK them, there are those that are actually fun if you are able to charm them................lol. Not the easiest thing mind you.

It all depends on luggage, location and ease. I prefer to sit comfortably in a taxi than pull my luggage n squeeze in the train and the worse I have to change different train.

Honest take on the little debate here on taxis or airport link.

Aiport link is ok (fast downtown) if you travel light. For taxis, suay2 even pay toll can kena bad traffic. Traffic grid in peak evening hours (6-7pm), kena 1hr snail drive near Phoenchit exit (from highway) on last 2 occasions. Total journey 2hrs to get into Phoenchit. Eat into my quality time at nearby NEP :p

Makassan airport link stop sucks, as you need to drag your stuff downstairs and hop on to buggy to get to main road (to hail cab). Before buggy, you had to hoof your way to pak soi. But maybe other stops are more assessible.

No need to resort on special cabbie for airport (or return) ride. If the Q is long, I just go to departures level and jump into 1 arriving (no extra bht50 too). As TC, IMO also said Bkk taxis are aplenty and way better than KL (mafia on BB stretch) and sillypore. Of course, you don't cave in to the parasites hanging about next to hotels or Patpong stretch. Always can hail next one passing by. Even in nightspots, cabbies line up to pick you (unlike back home must speedial)

Generally, if I arrive or depart during off-peak hours, I will take the taxi. Otherwise, I will take the train, especially when I have a flight to catch.

A good place to get off from the Airport/City Link is Phaya Thai. It connects to the BTS line nicely, saving you valuable time for chionging along Sukhumvit ;)

I beg to differ.
With the exception of Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy Agogo Bars, overall Bangkok is still cheaper than Changping, Dongguan in terms of food and entertainment.
Eg. In 2003 the price of most Ratchada Soapy Massage Parlours is from THB1900-2000.
Now is 2013 the price is still the same! :eek:

Now compare to the prices of Saunas in Changping, Dongguan.
It has increased quite a lot for the past 2 years alone.

Bangkok as long u dun take the taxis loitering outside your hotels or at tourist attractions you are safe. So far in my 15 years traveling to Bangkok only kana scammed once, meter was rigged, from airport to my apartment usually Bht230-250 but that day was like extra Bht100!

mine came up close to 700bht fr airport to hotel. saw that damn meter jumped like crazy. Just diam diam until hotel..then when reach i came out with my carry on luggage and told him i can pay him e meter fare but i will definitely call the number in the ticket chit to complain about his rigged meter. Else he can take 400bht (since he paid for tolls). Bloody idiot thought i first time come bkk. Took the 400bht and went off. Ya.. 400 is a bit too much.. but not that big a deal and i am happy to be safely in my hotel.
