This not just true in Thailand...... shit stinks pretty much everywhere.... just didn't think it was lurking in these hidden places in BKK.

Given my Boxing background, and refusal to fall for bullshit scams like this, i would have caused a ruckus in the restaurant or called the tourist Police. I've walked out of those scam PatPong Rd sex shows before, and all they did to me was call out manager and yell really loud to try intimidate me to pay the inflated bill - but i can tell the difference between those who just talk a big talk, and those really willing to let fists fly! Most of these places just intimidate China Style by being the louder shouter, but very few like me willing to get their fists dirty, and when they realise i am one of those rare breeds they let me walk. Alas i understand this is not the route most SG/Malay guys would use (especially those shy guys with tail up their pussycats)...but thats just me....and this is the reason these WG dare try these scams on East Asian Mongers, and not so much on our Euro/American Counterparts....

BTW, how are you doing in BKK? Hope to see you there next few months and i am doing some research in preparation for my first trip back to LOS in many years...

Used to Cheong BKK years ago, but the increasing incidence of hard plastic silicon boobs forced me look elsewhere, as this also a big turnoff for me :(

Best advice is to live and learn, it's not worth it to fight or call tourist police over money! One way or the other you're going to lose that amount! I've been coming to Thailand since 1996 and I'm still learning how not to be ripped off or scammed!

We just need to help each other by sharing our knowledge and experience so fellow members can have a great time in Thailand!

I appreciate the advice, but telling a retired ex-fighter not worth it to fight over principle of being overtly and obviously scammed, is like telling someone not to eat or breathe. Just cant do it.

In my cheonging career, i've generally gone the other route, and let the scammer know if they wanna go this route, it's definitely not my first fight and that they are not going to leave unscathed. I've had only one incident escalate into physical pushing, but when i hipp tossed him Muay thai style and they knew i had skills, it ended right there. If you are a poker player, i can tell you that 95% of these places are bluffing, and that they themselves wont risk physical escalation and risk trouble with the police on their end for a small amount. They are just betting that you as a non-local/tourists, won't call their bluff, as most rather pay money to make problems go away. In America we call these people 'pussies' :cool:

Of course, I don't reccomend anyone follow how i do things, unless they have some skills to back it up, but my belief is that these places usually just bluffing that you don't have the balls to do anything (which is typically true, and why Patpong rd is still open and they continue to operate). The reality is these places have more to lose if you cause a scene in front of their customers or call the tourist police.

If you don't believe, watch 2:58 - 6:00 of this video below, where these undercover 'tourists' goto a Patpong sex show scam, and argued their way out of a 6000 baht scam charge down to 1000 baht by being loud and firm, without any pushing or physical escalation. Of course its best to avoid these types of situations alltogether through sharing and information, but if i am somehow forced into these type of situations, my mental makeup refuses to give in weakly and quietly without putting up a fight.

I had several fights and close calls in Southeast Asia but fighting is not worth it! Based on my experience and knowledge, Thais are dirty fighters, they can't fight one on one, it's always multiple Thais against one faring! Now, I believe in Love not war, he he he he he!

Getting a breast enhancement is fairly cheap in Thailand, therefore majority of working girls especially in the gogo bars are very common! Overall, Thai girls are very pretty but flat chested! Moreover, Baccara gogo bar has the highest percentage of boobs enhancements in Bangkok or Pattaya! And in Thailand, silicone capsule/bag is used but in America only saline bag is used and approved by FDA! Silicone boobs are much softer and natural compared to saline boobs but more harmful and higher rejection rate per Dr, Norice, breast specialist!

the interesting thing is there is a makeshift police post just outside baccara, but no point to create a scene, just pay 900b and learn from the lesson. keep the night happy.

Most people here will agree with you, and rather just pay 900bht for something not their fault, and not make a scene. This is exactly the reason why these scams continue to propagate many years even when authorities are just right outside. Keep the night happy 'for now', but later become annoyed and upset that you didn't do anything (and this is why you are reporting it correct?). Its up to you and your moral makeup. I know that i will be more upset later on if i didn't do anything when i had a chance.

nothing is impossible in thailand, everyone trying to find extra source of income.. as naemlo pointed out its win win for the girl and the restaurant..

from the years of visiting bkk one thing I've learnt is sometimes you win and most times you learn..

i find that speaking thai and telling them you work in bkk also increases that 亲切感, once you build that bond, they don't see you as a one off tourist and try to rip you off.. but they'll take good care of you in hopes you'll return again..

I've had FLs and AGGs treat me better than GFs and giks who are not in the night life industry..

All 3 train systems – BTS, MRT, ARL – are offering unlimited free rides until noon tomorrow. All 3 are running until 2 am tonite.

That means that on the MRT alone, u can check out Chatuchak Market, then the eye candy at Central Lat Phrao shopping mall (note: get off at Phahon Yothin), peruse the assets at the msg parlors at Huai Khwang (be sure not to miss VIP – some SYT gems there sometimes, Hi-Class, Emmanuelle, Merci (no more Nataree, Caesars), hit the bars at Soi Cowboy, move on to Patpong (supposedly Kings Group bars now have loads of SYT dancers) and end up bonking a SYT FL in Chinatown for B500!
