I was a regular at Back Bar when it used to be Cable Car! Cable Car is now at Cuppage Plaza, next to the Holiday Inn. They still play nice, quiet music, the service is good and there is a 'chill out' bar on the 2nd floor which has got sofas. Good place to bring your woman to. Other nice places include Altivo Bar at the Mount Faber cable car station - very nice views of the harbour and city, and Villa Bali at Gilman Village off Alexandra Road. Villa Bali is very, very nice with a real Balinese theme and you can sit indoors or outdoors. Women usually love it though it has many overseas educated Singaporean customers who love to 'air kiss' when they greet each other. (Seeing this always sends nasty chills down my spine!) If I'm not wrong, Marina Mandarin is closed for renovations but The Bar at the Regent Hotel is a very, very classy alternative. Final place that I can think of is Round Midnight at Cuppage Plaza on Monday nights. They have this smoochy, romantic jazzy live music with a singer and keyboardist. Please be advised that NONE of these places are cheap...
