Btw, i had been to Yaowara (chinatown) several times alone and sometimes also with my clients for meals at couple of restaurant there and my meal (if i was alone) will never exceed 1k baht and will not exceed 2k if with my clients!! Are you introduced by cab and brought you there?? Coz' all restuarant c/w menu with indicative 'PRICES'....!

Yes but mostly all in Thai... Noi Seafood has a photo menu but if I remember correctly no prices! But the prices there are quite reasonable. Wanted to eat there last night but no seats!

Ate at Yaowarat last month. Wanted to eat the popular corner roadside BBQ seafood but they were still setting up. So crossed the soi to their competitor opposite, NamSing Texas, who used to ply their trade al fresco but now located in a narrow 4 storey shop. They have picture menu with prices. Had 3 raw oysters, big Heineken, steamed seabass, stirred fried kang kong & rice for BHT600 (inclv tips). Maybe not the cheapest in Bangkok but food tasted good and at around $26 for two cheaper than Singapore good enuff 4 me. If Ah Gong paying then this place gives a machine printed receipt.

Afterwards had dessert of birdnest at the big sharkfin/birdnest shop next door. Ordered 2 bowls but sorry can't remember how much. I think less than BHT500. Normally I dun take birds nest coz think its a very exploitative & harmful trade (same sentiments towards sharksfin) but tirak never tried before. The shop I ate at has been around for many years already and I think what I ate that evening wasn't fake.

Please don't follow the tuk-tuks or taxis that hang around outside your hotel. They'll bring u to some lousy & expensive restaurant. If food good no need such touting tactics.

maybe u should head to the other end of yaowarat, nearer to the circus end, there has 1 restaurant selling sharks fin, definitely not rip off

I was not introduced by a cab driver. I went to a restaurant called Scada (or something like that) which had 2 levels. They had prices on their menu. My complain was not really the price but the quality of the cooking.

Nope. Club Eden is probably more into role play and superficial BDSM. The one I went to was the real thing. Ouch!:rolleyes:

I doubt if the sharksfin soup or birds nest is fake as the difference is quite obvious. It is more likely that they use the lowers grade stuff which is actually very cheap. Go NTUC and take a look at the frozen section and you know what I mean.

Now that you mention Club Eden, here is a little experience I had many years back.

Went into the bar and all of a sudden many girls rush in and a menu was brought to me. There was an ang mo (probably french) who explained to me the menu and what the "yellow line" was. Most of the girls were not good looking and probably the type ang mo would like.
