After a late lunch at the highway stop, we piled back onto the van and was soon back on the road. Any butterflies rising in my belly were silenced the moment Elaine slid into the front passenger seat. If the boys had any qualms with her abandoning them in the back, they didn't show it.

It wasn't long before I was driving in silence. The earlier excitement, combined with with a satisfying lunch effectively knocked everyone out. Everyone except me, that is. I was too worked up to nod off. Just as well anyway. I was driving.

I don't know how long the quiet lasted. The boys behind woke up first, but other than the occasional murmur and low whispers, they kept pretty much to themselves.

After some time, Elaine woke up. After checking on the boys behind her, she asked if I would like to take a break and get some rest. I figured it would be a good idea, so we switched seats and I nodded off.

After a nap, I awoke to find that we were entering the town of Mersing, where we can take a ferry to Tioman Island. We found the private car park provided by the resort with little difficulty and got our van squared away. Next we picked up out luggage and headed for the jetty to catch the next ferry to the island.

The boys were left free to wander while Elaine and I made ourselves comfortable on the waiting hall benches. Elaine held my hand and leaned in close to me. I sensed she was trying to reassure me somewhat.

"Are you alright?" Elaine asked.

"No, I guess not," I replied.

She nodded. "I understand."

"Do you really?"

She nodded again.

I sighed. "Can I be honest?"

"Of course. Always."

"I really don't think this will end well. For us."

She squeezed my hand. "Can't we at least try?"

"I'm trying. I just don't know how much longer I can keep it up."

We were quiet for a few minutes.

"I'll make you a deal," she said.

"I'm almost afraid to hear it."

"After we make it through this few days, when we get home, I'll stop."

I glanced at her incredulously.

"I mean it," Elaine said, biting her lip in firm determination.

"And the boys will agree to that?"

"It's not up to them. It's time they matured anyway. They should be emotionally able to form proper relationships by now."

"And you? You're okay with it?" I asked.

Elaine looked puzzled. "I'm the one deciding to stop it."

"But do you want to?"

"I thought it's what you wanted?"

"It is. But is it what you want? You're... different."

Elaine frowned at me the way she always did in an adorable manner to signal that I am being difficult.

"You… You look like you enjoy… Being with them," I said.

Elaine blushed. "It's just my body's reaction. It's natural."

"I have a hard time remembering the last time you reacted that way to me..."

My wife looked at me in horror. "I'm so sorry. I didn't realize," She said. "I… It's just… It's…"

"Yeah," I replied softly.

"It doesn't mean I love you less."

"Sure," I replied flatly.

Elaine sighed and squeezed my hand again. She turned to look me in the eyes. "I'm not gonna lie," she said. "It's exciting. Of course it is. It's new. I've never done something like this before. But that's all it is. Just raw excitement."

"So you're saying it's just sex? Sure doesn't look that way."

"No, you're right. I care about them as well. We've been over this, haven't we?" She said.

"Yeah. I guess."

Another moment of silence passed.

I felt Elaine squeeze my hand again. She tugged it slightly, requesting my attention.

"I have to tell you something," Elaine said slowly.

"Okay," I replied, feeling somewhat numb.

"I'm expecting..."

I snapped my head around. "WHAT!"

Elaine quickly put her hand on my arm. "Let me finish," she said in a calm voice. "I'm expecting someone to join us."

My head swam with bewilderment. "Join us? Join us how? What do you mean?"

In my head, my worst fears bubbled to the surface and I half expected a school bus packed with our school's basketball team to roll up the street and unload a throng of horny boys, with the school bus carrying the football team not far behind.

"You're seeing some one else?" I croaked with disbelief. "More students?"

Elaine blinked at me. Then she rolled her eyes.

"No silly. Pris is coming," she said.
