Re: Bangkok Field Report
As advised, 10k is good for drinks only and won't last long.
Actually many hotels have bars or restaurant with good views although not on the rooftops. Stayed in Radisson once and their bar had a great view of the city from the east and Rama9 at night choked full of traffic is spectacular too, albeit not as great a view as the plunging neckline of the accommodating waitress who sat down on the floor to chat. Roadside bars are good enough; alcohol works as long as it's down the throat! And ps agogos are not indecent. They are at best, naughty. |

For the top end list including likes of Vertigo Bar, Banyan Tree and Centara -not for tight wallets. 10k for 5 is NOT enough for dinner and drinks. If rooftop view is your thing, just hit the bars section for cocktails. Dinner for 3 at Vertigo with dinner + wine got hit for almost thb10k laew:eek: Baiyoke Sky is possibly more affordable (downscale). Buffet lunch was thb650++ some years back. Yes, there are some other hotels/restaurants with views but maybe less awesome and yet kinder to wallets. For jazz, hear Saxophone is popular http://saxophonepub.com/2010/ Now who says some of us not contribute? |

No bro I didn't "make friend". :(
Remembered that she was fine company since she spoke good English and my Thai was pathetic. Actually managed to meet her after work for a drink at RCA which was so near but then she went off to meet some friends in another joint and I didn't feel like going (and socializing). Was on a business trips and those suck when you can't really chiong late and enjoy. |
