ZYK is already under party arrest, in a black jail in Inner Mongolia. He probably confessed his sins and named all his people under his protection during his time as security chief of China, and now under one fell swoop all his underlings are getting picked up.
Possibly BXL in order to avoid execution or a suspended death sentence named ZYK as a co-conspirator last year, and now like a fucking house of cards all the umbrellas are being targeted.
The thing is that ZYK is under the Shanghai clique - Jiang Zemin who is very powerful is the leader of that clique. This has surely weakened Jiang Zemin significantly and even though he no longer is in official power he might still have some cards under his sleeves.
I am interested in this guy - Zhang Dejiang who is also in the Shanghai clique, or rather was in the Shanghai clique. He used to be party secretary of Guangdong before Wang Yang and presided over the greatest expansion of the sex trade in DG and the strongest period of growth.
He's now in the Standing committee (most powerful body in China), and at first I thought he was a compromise candidate so that JZM could have a body in the standing committee - but he also seems to have defected as he seems to have gone chummy with the Youth League (which is the group of comrades that as youth had to go to the countryside and become farmer due to Cultural revolution, a mixture of princelings and rising stars).
last month ZDJ was appointed as National Security Vice-Chair (XJP as President is Chair) so he is taking over Zhou Yongkang's old position and was the one that executes a crackdown like this since it directly targets law enforcement etc.
It's quite fascinating actually the way the cliques and factions shape up in China. It's like a game of thrones miniseries, and what it looks like right now is that the Shanghai clique is being destroyed.

There is also another faction known as the Neo-Petroleum faction which was headed by ZYK and Jiang Jiemin. Jiang is also under arrest.
