28 Feb 2014. Friday morning. I received a notice that PZL was going to re-open at 7 pm. Immediately, I shared this great news with as many people as I could get hold off. PZL had been closed for more than 10 days. The official news from the media had been saying that the YANDA would last for 3 months.So most people could not believe that PZL could re-open so soon.
As it occurred, I arrived at the main entrance at 7pm sharp, and I was the first customer. As I entered the premise, walking through the corridor, I saw so many familiar faces. PZL still has the prettiest footie girls in town. There was new pricing too - 89 RMB for an 80-minute foot massage with a complementary meal. I sat in the dinning room chatting to several on-duty manager-assistants. I noticed that customers were slowing coming in. I booked a session with my favourite SYT footie girl and in less than 10 mins I was already in heaven.
Unexpectedly, around 9 pm, the police (Gong An) came in for a quick survey and asked PZL to close down immediately. Customers were politely asked to leave. The manager told me that there was nothing to worry, the place would re-open again very soon. The police just found some missing documents and it would be sorted out soonest.
I guess the re-opening of PZL was more than just symbolic. Since the YANDA started three weeks ago, there were talks and rumours that CP would never recover from this again. But I am still here, and from talking to the people on the ground, I could see that people are still very much hopeful. We are simply going through a hibernation period, All the MMs, DLs, mummies and MAs are standing by, waiting for the curfew to be lifted. CP would come back stronger than ever.
