My practice is every time when i reach hotel, I will keep all my impt stuff in the locker including jewellery if any, excess cash and wallet. I only bring 2k to 3k RMB with a low credit limit credit card and a photocopied passport paper. Maybe not a very good idea but it's the best I can think of
