Not to downplay Khaosan but agree with u that if one is not for p4p activities then mayb yes khaosan is a good choice with cheap accomodation and a few attractions and temples nearby to see see and take pic

Yes, I DO agree with what you say - it IS best for those more adventurous and perhaps with more time. And being young and/or physically attractive helps a lot too!

Cheap eats in this area don't remain cheap for long as the Back-packers' share their info and such places get popular quick...and of course prices get raised! But then again, no matter how expensive prices are in Thailand, they are still very reasonable compared to what most of us have to pay back home! So much so that I really never consider food costs much in Thailand - wherever!

And as for transport - yeah, my friend had to pick me up from the Boat Station on the Chao Praya as I remembered that this is the easiest/cheapest way there - but he needed to guide me back to Khaosan; that's how long ago since I actually stayed there! Still quite a pleasant stroll and not that much of a walk.

And talking about temples - lots of conmen and scammers hang about these places! Watch out!
