Armed robbery and assault at the Flamingo Hotel in South Pattaya.

A dramatic armed robbery now which occurred at 6am on Thursday Morning at the Flamingo Hotel in Soi Day Night 2, South Pattaya. The night receptionist, Khun Amnat aged 24 was one hour away from coming off duty when two men entered the Hotel and asked for the room number of a Thai man who, records showed, did not stay at the hotel. The men then produced weapons, one was armed with a knife and the other had concealed a baseball bat behind his back. The two assailants ordered the receptionist to open a cash box which contained 2,654 Baht. They took the money, struck the victim on the back of the head with the baseball bat and threw him into a nearby toilet and locked him in from the outside. Eventually a fellow worker heard his screams and the Police were called. After only a short time, the two suspected thieves were caught by patrolling officers and taken back to the scene of the crime where they were positively identified by the victim. The two suspects are Khun Nopadon aged 25 and Khun Kajonsuk aged 30. Both confessed to the theft and even demonstrated to officers how they conducted the robbery and assault. Both men are unemployed and decided to target this hotel as they noticed that overnight, only one member of staff was present at reception. Both suspects are now behind bars awaiting their time in court on charges of theft and assault.
