While the naysayers all care for you very much, only you know the dynamics on the ground.

I have had a few experiences with a few of my previous DHs. Not all. They will send signals, and the key is to decipher them accurately. That said, working around the time schedule of everyone in the house to get some alone time was always my biggest challenge. Like you, I have always laid it out that my Wife is the boss and there can be no rocking the boat.
