555 I already mentioned since many years ago that Bangkok cheonging is no longer cheap.
Even alcohol prices in pubs or supermarkets are jacked up tremendously due to high inflation and consistent increase of excise tax year on year.
When travelling for overseas to cheong/relax the main purpose will be:
1) cheaper source. Eg. Indonesia, Vietnam, etc.
2) in the absence of cheaper source but at least for better/premium quality and unique experience. Eg. South Korea, Japan, etc.
So now if it's not any cheaper than Singapore then might as well cheong domestically or nearby Johor Bahru and save on air tickets and accomodation.
