Price: Cheapest return flight close to S$500 with 2 stops per one way!
By Land:
Kunming (China) <-> Xishuangbanna (China)
Duration: 10-16 hours one way.
Price: Inexpensive by bus. Road condition smooth.
Luang Prabang (Laos) <-> Xishuangbanna (China)
Duration: 12 hours one way.
Price: Inexpensive by bus. Road condition less smooth.
Note:
Xishuangbanna is a very backwater city by China's standard.
No old school trains even and public transportation within city is not that efficient.
Use motorbike touts or private transportation.
Hotel, food and KTV price is like Pearl River Delta region in 2008!

Xishuangbanna is the last paradise in China for poor cheongsters like me.
This place is very inconvenient and expensive to get to by air so most fussy cheongsters will not come here.
