Re: First Love
Years went by and communication was kept to the minimum with Mei as we were both busy with our studies and careers. Slowly, we lost contact with each other and we proceed to lead our own lives. 20++ years had passed. I completed my college studies and graduated from a prestigious university in NY, Connecticut. I had climbed the corporate ladder and reached almost the top. I am now VP of a major US investment company and oversees dealing in SEA shares. Although I had many flings with different ladies throughout the years, I am still single as my heart is still with Mei.
Somehow, one day I downloaded and registered on social media Facebook, I managed to connect with my secondary school mates. Surprisingly, most of them had changed and almost unrecognizable. The fittest ones all blossomed in weight and married with children. I typed in Mei’s name, hoping to find her in FB. The search popped up her recent profile picture and name. I clicked on her profile and have a check...Yes ...this is her! Her recent picture showed her with her 2 daughters, her face aged slightly but I can still see that she still maintain her slender figure and nice smile. I quickly click on the Add Friend tab, hoping to reconnect with her.
After a few days, I logged in FB and found that Mei had accepted my friend request. I was feeling happy yet nervous. How am I going to approach her? She is having her own married life now with 2 children, is it appropriate for me to reconnect with her? My mind is in a dilemma as I am figuring out the pros and cons. Damn! I am a risk taker and living my life on the edge everyday, million dollars of transactions go through me daily yet I cannot make up my mind.
I decided to send her my greetings through FB messenger and she replied to me almost instantly. She was actually surprised that after so many years, I still remember and manage to contact her. We chatted on and I updated her on my present status and she updated me that she is married for 10 years with 2 daughters. She is now a home maker and she envy me for being able to advance in my career and enjoy life. Ever since we lost contact, she moved on and started a new relationship with her uni mate and eventually settled down. For a few weeks, we chatted online and I can sense that she is currently not having a good married life. Memories of her together with me keep flooding into my mind. Since I have a month of annual leave to clear, I decided to fly back to Singapore and give her a surprise visit.
