Like what some bros mentioned. Cheonging and shopping in populare areas are still safe no matter what colour shirt your wore. Due to the political tension, the average Thais (taxi-drivers, stall holders, sales assistants, etc) are becoming less tolerant and easily agitated. If any bros got into any misunderstanding (over-charged on your "merchandise" or dishonest drivers) with the locals, do not agrue with them (no matter you speak thai or not). Past few weeks saw a few fights on the streets..pretty sure that they are tourist (hongkies or Jap). Play safe in BKK.
