Africa Cup of Nations 2012

The 2012 African Cup of Nations will be the 28th edition of the African Cup of Nations, the football championship of Africa (CAF).
It will be co-hosted by Gabon & Equatorial Guinea.
The 2 countries won the right 2 host the tournament aft defeating a Nigerian bid along with 2 other bid winning nations, Angola & Libya.
Bids fr Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe & Senegal were rejected.
For the 1st time in CAF history, the hosts of 3 successive tournaments were chosen at the same time; Angola was chosen to host in 2010, Gabon/Equatorial Guinea were chosen 2 host 2012 cup and Libya 4 the 2013 edition.
Nigeria was chosen as a stand-by host in the event that 1 of the chosen nations were to become unsuitable. The winner of this tournament will qualify for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
