not having any symptom" means nothing. Many STDs (HIV included) have no symptoms whatsoever.
The only way to tell is by performing specific tests.
If you don't know the facts, it would be best if you avoid giving advice. All it does is cause unnecessary alarm or unwarranted comfort.
