What Bro PTR mentioned above is 100% correct. The Beijing Gong An has imposed a law that all hotel guests must register after 11pm. If you want to bring a girl, you can register her with the reception then she can go up to your room. But, be very careful about this. During sensitive period, the hotel reception are required to inform the gong an of any suspecious guest. So if you regsiter your girl, you are likely to get someone knocking your door in a while.
Don't believe the girls. They talk big but will be the first person to run. All ktvs mamis and girls have been briefed by the gong an about this. They have legal IC card (registered wth gong an). So if they check into hotels, the gong an will know. This is the reason why the ktv girls don't like to go to hotels, unless you know the mami well and they can trust you.
FLs and WLs are hit and run. When you are in trouble, you can never find them again. Cheong with care bro, especially in Beijing.
