I went few times to CP tis yr, the 2nd half of tis yr, jus isn't a good time to go CP.
I hv native local friend, suggest '内地' is now more fun & cheaper than popular places like CP. Because they are not popular & only patron mostly by locals & usually with known ppl, it is much safer.

My experience begs to differ. Although cheonged cp for some time already, it has always been rewarding trips during the yanda after the initial 2-3 weeks of hoohah when yanda kicked in. Mm numbers dropped yes, but cheongster numbers dropped even more. Therefore people who still go during this period have more choices at saunas (when they reopen either in secret or at tail end of yanda), more time and space to walk fs without squeezing with other mongers and no apparent rush to ktvs knowing there's gonna be a lot of leftovers. Can't really say quality had dropped cuz there are still young n chio mms who still risk working during yanda cuz they need ¥¥ to eat. Of cuz always check before one goes cp - if word is out that ktvs are closed for "reno" or mms are given "co trips" or saunas taking a break then dun be silly n fly in, unless of cuz one has prior arrangements made with a kc there.

Just my yanda experiences, it is afterall subjective.
