Well, has anyone ever consider why are they what they are, speed demons which on the highway?
I had a conversation with one of the HT drivers while on my way to HKG and according to him, the HT drivers are being paid by the numbers of trip they make in a working day, they have some sort of basic salary like RMB1,500.00. If I remember correctly, one return trip (CP/HKIA - HKIA/CP) they collect RMB300.00, this info was about 2 years ago, I am sure it has increased.
Anyway, on an average day with full force of vehicles on the road, one driver will complete 2 return trips. HT provide accomodation but not food. Penalties, parking offences fines and highway fines will be paid by the individual driver who are caught.
Most of them are average Joe and are working their ass off to make a living to provide for their respective family and personal needs. So if they are willing to take risk of being fined for speeding and squeeze another trip in per day, well, you know what I mean. However, to compensate the safety of passengers, it's not right. Passengers can't do much except to voice their displeasure and concern during the trip. If/When they arrived at Hui Hua Hotel in one piece , they should or could make an official complain at their office. Whether the driver will correct their ways or not is another matter altogether.
