LOL!
Sorry, but I just gotta write some more about this...and how ridiculous the whole thing is!!
Earlier today I bought my DGG-SZ ticket and of course got my RMB55.50 change back - a RMB 50 + a RMB 5 notes and a 50 fen coin.
As I was leaving the ticket counter and heading towards the baggage check, I encountered another desk manned by 2 staff asking for my 50 fen coin and offering to change it for brand new 50 fen PAPER note .... for my convenience they told me.
Now I know that China needs to provide employment etc but this is just too much!! Why not just give back change at the ticket counter in paper notes?
And come to think of it - those stupid baggage check - what are they checking for??!! I have NEVER seen anybody's bag being opened or anybody being further examined after being groped by those staff with their metal detector....which always beeps!! Takes at least 3 staff to man these useless baggage check...which checks/discover nothing!!
And why bother to check identity, assign specific train and seat number before selling you a ticket...and then allow one to just board any train going the right direction and to sit anywhere there's an empty seat?? Worse part of this rigamarole is of course that the process of checking identity etc delays ticket sales which results in ridiculously long lines at the ticket counter
No wonder the Chinese train companies are bleeding cash.
