well, i can't say it is much better when i noticed skirmishes between samsters, not only in this thread but also in another (i believe it's the vietnam thread ? ) which prompt me to wonder, what's happening around here ? why is it that everyone seems to be so "serious" or "righteous" and is keen to get others to "conform" to some kind of imaginary "fun/cheong" SOPs ..... ?
nonetheless, i'd thank those bros who have "upped" my points, and frankly, since i'm so inactive in SBY, it doesn't really bother me as to whether i'm "upped" or "zapped".
for those "older" samsters who have stayed away fm SBY, i suppose one of the reason is that the "brotherhood" spirit is no longer around, hence, i'd believe i should also stay away and refrain from offering my views, opinions whatsoever ....... i just hope existing bros can agree to disagee with each other without having to "fight" so openly. it's already very streesful in our daily life, we don't need to bring stress in this supposedly "fun" forum ....

I certainly never set out to cause ANY controversies, never mind “War.”
But “War” seems to be the only thing on too many guys’ minds here, when protecting their supposed “turf.” I mean how ridiculous is all this when one can only be on here if one follows all the “standard protocol,” when anytime any one even dare to suggest or even plead for a bit of welcoming tone ….is instead upon by a rabid gang intent on putting the hapless interloper in his supposed place. And oh, of course then the mass zapping onslaught follows – as if points are a matter of life and death.
OK – great, some guys may want to keep their cabal “exclusive – but is it really that much fun to repeat the same fawning and nonsensical postings over and over again? Do you really add to your own body of knowledge when any information or opinion outside of sanctioned or approved sources (BY WHO???!!) is NOT tolerated, get shot down immediately by a combination of innuendos, ridicule or even outright aggression? Does it give you jollies to gang up to shoot down others? Really?
Is this really what you guys like – and want – for your forum? That nowadays - as ben-cooldude brilliantly and eloquently points out - most would rather stay away instead of contributing their own knowledge, opinion and information? That new Samsters see all this…and wisely just stay quiet…or even just leave never to come back? Is this what you want for me?
All I am asking for is a modicum of understanding and tolerance for differing opinions, style of reporting and contributing and of course to stop ganging up to achieve whatever purpose that you’re trying to achieve. Believe that you all are independent thinkers IRL – why the need to act like a pack of hungry wolves on here? Hell, yes, us supposed interlopers into your territory may be different in our approach to things – but does that give you the right to act the way that you do?
Even this insistence on using Singlish – sure, no problem and in fact I do use a Singlish Dictionary to understand more here. But I would suggest that most others will not bother to do so and just stay away. I’ve discussed this matter with Boss/Sam previously and his reply is “Hell, I don’t even understand half of the things they talk about!!” Nothing wrong with being proud of Singlish; in fact I admire and salute Singaporeans for perfecting such a colorful and free flowing language. But when it is used to seemingly exclude others from participating, I must question if this is beneficial to the forum as a whole.
And the topic that started all this is typical of the usual response here – when anyone DARES to even suggest that anything recommended here is questionable; never mind that the driver in question may have changed… and is now perhaps dangerous to use. Never mind THIS, just trash such information, brand it as Unfair …. And of course then reinforced and repeated by others that this guy is great/beyond reproach.
Anyway….Sheesh!!
