Snubbed my cigarette and walked towards the stone table as their discussion was coming to no conclusion. We decided to lunch together while going through several other units which were not to our consideration, but just to take a look and have more choices as in the price, location etc...
My wife did most of the discussion with Sharlene while I just sat quietly eating my lunch. I did notice how Sharlene took quick glances at me while chatting but I brushed it off as just basic courtesy while chatting with us. However I took a few tiko looks at her. My tiko-ness over took my brains.

After a hearty meal, I paid for the meal though Sharlene offered to but I politely declined and said "Next time on you then." Not sure if she did catch my hint, but anyway, bid her farewell and we made our way home. Before reaching home, I received an SMS. It was Sharlene.

The message read:
"Hi Mr XXX, I have managed to arrange another appointment for you this evening at XXXXX at 6pm. The owner is migrating to Hong Kong soon and wants to let go of his house as soon as possible, thus I believed I will be able to help you get a good price on the unit. Will you be interested to meet me tonight?"

I pressed
"But I have already told you my wife is not free this evening beforehand...... "
But on seconds thoughts, the devil took over my brain, I erased the message and replied
"Ok sure. See you there then."

Did not show my wife the SMS nor mention anything about it, hoping for some bonus that evening though she did ask who was it. I just told her one of my drinking kaki from my previous company asked me to go out for a drink.

My wife: "Sure, go ahead after all, I am having a wedding dinner tonight. But don't come back too late. It's still the 7th month. Maybe you can even come drop by to pick me up after my dinner."

Me: "Eh..... I'll see then and then and update you where I am. How about that?"

However, due to time constraint, I SMSed Sharlene again and asked if we can view the house at about 4pm as my wife will be leaving earlier to meet up some friends to go to the wedding dinner together.

15 minutes later, I received her reply. It read "Mr XXX, 4.30pm is the earliest I can arrange as the owner will only be back by that time". So from 4.30pm to around 11pm, I have about 6.5 hours to put my skills to work. Happy like fuck. I just grinned to myself. I foresee some actions tonight most probably..........

So Sharlene didn't turn up for the appointment...?

I arrived sharply at 4.30pm at the venue arranged by Sharlene. Parked my car in the open carpark and walked up to the lift landing. She was already there in a bright red top and a black tight skirt, without fail in high heels but this time not open-toe one. She smiled and greeted me,

Sharlene: "Hi Mr XXX."
Me: "Hey just call me Joe. You make it sound so formal. Haha.... relax a bit"
Sharlene: "Oh ok Joe". *giggles* "This flat has just been upgraded with lift going up to every level."
Me: "Oh that's great. So which level is the unit on?"
Sharlene: "It's on the 9th level. Shall we go up?"
Me: "Oh sure of course."
With that, she guided me by taking the lead. I followed closely behind and could see her curvy torso. This made me felt erected a little. Brushing the thoughts aside, we entered the lift and arrived at the flat shortly.

Shall skip the details of viewing and making enquiries as I felt this is not so important.

Although the price quoted by the owner is slightly below the market price, he wanted cash beyond my budget. I pulled Sharlene to 1 side and discussed it with her. She told me she will try her best to negotiate with that owner. While she did that, I decided to go outside the flat for a smoke while waiting for her answer. Moreover, I still need to discuss this with my wife and she also will have to come view the flat too. In other words, the main decision still remained with my wife even though I am paying mostly for the flat. However I wanted to appear in front of Sharlene that I can make the decision.

After my 1st stick, Sharlene popped out of the flat and wore her heels. Then she told me that she will let me know the details later downstairs.

I was like ??? After that, will we go separate ways and go home? Isn't that going to be boring?? Anyway I just followed and came to the lift landing again. We entered the lift together and instead of going down, the lift went up. On the 12th floor, the door opened but nobody entered. Thinking that someone else might have pressed it earlier on, I pressed "Closed" and my pendant dropped onto the floor. (This pendant, not sure what kind of god it represented has been given to me by a Thai monk when I was posted to Thailand for an overseas excercise. It is green in colour, probably due to being kept in the plastic casing for very long, with lots of sweat and exposure to sunlight resulting in algae being formed.). I was taken aback as I am very sure the ring has been very tightly fastened and I always treasured this pendant and checked it is tightly locked in the ring. I picked it up and placed it into my pocket. Sharlene was quiet all along and upon reaching the ground floor after coming out of the lift, she just walked towards the stone table.

I followed suit and she asked
Sharlene: " Did you somehow or rather see that old lady in the lift just now?"
Me: Huh, don't give me the creeps. What lady are you talking about? I din see anyone at all. But then just now I felt it was a little cooling in the lift!
With that, I shrugged and felt a cold shiver going down my spine.

Remembering my pendant dropping, I put my hands into the pocket and pulled my pendant out. Gosh! The internal has turned to black. I do not understand what that means but I only felt it has protected me and most probably it is powerless already.

She bent forward and whispered into my ears "But really, I did see her entering the lift on the 12th storey."

Taking a quick glance at my watch which was showing barely half past 5
Me: "Hey let's get out of here first, what about that? We will chat more on the way"

Sharlene: "Where do ya wanna go? I don't want to go home alone."

Me: "Look here, I think we might have a serious problem now. We are in it together as well. But as for now, I still do not know the severity of it as yet. I do not know where to go, but at least somewhere crowded perhaps?"

Trying to sound serious, yet not sure whether am I trying to come out with an excuse to make her stay with me longer.

Sharlene: "Ok. Then where shall we go?"

Me:" Let's just chill out at a pub and monitor the situation. Maybe there's nothing wrong at all."

Sharlene: "Sure."

It seems she looks a little flustered and scared..... and can only agree with anything I propose. And with that, she sat closer to me as if she was ready to cling on to me anytime. Looks and sounds good for me.
