Blood donation

Hi,

My company is going to organise a blood donation drive and it seems that everyone is 'expected' to donate ....

I used to cheong HC last time and retired for over 1 year already and since then only have sex with my wife.... but probably because of my past 'indiscretions' I will not be eligible to donate...

I do know that men who have sex with men are not allowed to donate, but what about pple like me? no paid-sex and no casual sex for >1year.. will i be ban??

If I'm not wrong, before donating you are required to fill in a questionair form. I believe one of item is about having sex with high risk person within one year. So you are safe lah.

There are other reasons for rejection other than sexual activities! For example having just recovered from chickenpox or shingles. While it is not stated in the questionaire people who just recovered are not supposed to donate blood due to residual virus.

The important question is: How confident are you that you are 'Clean'? Why not go for a full blood test before u think of donating your blood?

When in doubt get a medical opinion. When still indoubt get a second medical opinion (but from a different doctor).

One of the question is if you have more than one sex partner or new sex partner within one year.

if you are not confident of your own condition, suggest you fake one of the answers to disqualify yourself... I believe the penalty for donating tainted blood quite serious.
